Acclaimed in The St. Petersburg Times as "a fine young soprano", Joanna Curtis has delighted audiences throughout the eastern U.S. and in Europe with her clear, bel canto sound.
On the operatic stage, Joanna's roles have included Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Norina in Don Pasquale and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. Her concert repertory includes Handel's Messiah; Mozart's C minor Mass and Requiem; Bach's B minor Mass, Magnificat, and St. John Passion; and the Wagner/Palestrina Stabat Mater.
An ardent advocate for contemporary music, Joanna appeared as special guest artist of the 2007 Robert Helps Festival, performing Helps' song cycle Gossamer Noons at the Palladium in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her Merkin Concert Hall debut took place in February 2007 in a recital featuring the songs of DuParc, Beethoven, and Helps.
During her undergraduate years, Joanna studied Lieder and opera in Vienna and Berlin with the support of a Garrigues Foundation Grant. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics and of Swarthmore College, where she was awarded the Garrigues Music Scholarship and a Lang grant.
